SOFT OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 rounded tsp. baking powder
1 scant tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal (add last)
1 c. raisins
1 c. raisins water

Boil raisins in 1 cup water; drain and save water (must have 1 cup). Blend shortening, sugar and egg. Put soda in raisins water. Combine dry ingredients, alternate with raisin water. Chill dough. Drop by teaspoon on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
