MY MOM'S (JAN) HOT ITALIAN SUBS | |
This has been a favorite for my family every summer for 40 years. Hope you love it, too. 1 large uncut French bread loaf or 6 small sub rolls 1 head of lettuce 1 jar banana peppers 1 (15 oz.) can black olives 1 lb. each any 2 or 3 different deli meats, thin sliced 1 pkg. pepperoni slices 4 long slices Provolone cheese 4 long slices Mozzarella cheese 1 bottle Italian dressing 1 large tomato Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice bread loaf sideways (the long way). Spread open and layer meats, peppers, lettuce, black olives, and cheese (as the cheese melts it will keep the olives from rolling around or falling off). And then pour a lot of dressing on the top slice of bread. Fold over, and stick in party toothpicks or shish kabob sticks into bread to keep together as it bakes. Bake at 350°F until cheese melts and bread browns. Note: You can either layer tomatoes before sandwich cooks or after to keep tomatoes cool. Submitted by: Paige F. and Jan S. |
