DIVINITY CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. corn syrup
1/2 c. water
Few grains salt
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts

Combine sugar, syrup, water, and salt. Place over low heat, stirring until dissolved. Cook, without stirring, until hard ball forms when dropped in cold water (250 degrees - use candy thermometer). Beat egg whites until stiff. Gradually pour the syrup over the egg whites, beating until mixture holds shape. (Beat until mixture looses it's gloss.) Add vanilla and nuts. Drop quickly from tip of spoon. Makes 1 1/4 pounds.
