CRISPY CORNMEAL WAFFLES 
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. yellow cornmeal
1 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. melted shortening, slightly cooled

Beat eggs well - stir in buttermilk. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Combine with cornmeal. Stir in shortening. (If batter seems thick add 2 or 3 tablespoons more buttermilk).
