TEXAS HASH 
1 c. chopped onions
1 lb. ground beef
2 tsp. salt
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 c. uncooked quick cooking rice
2 tbsp. shortening
1 c. chopped bell pepper
2 tsp. chili powder
1 pkg. frozen English peas
1 (No. 2 1/2) can tomatoes

Saute onions in shortening, add beef and cook until brown. Stir in green peppers, salt, chili powder, tomato sauce and rice. Place in a large baking dish. Place peas in center. Pour tomatoes over mixture; cover. Bake for 1 hour in 350 degree oven. Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
