THUMB PRINTS | |
2 c. shortening 1/2 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar, packed 4 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 4 c. flour Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Add eggs. Vanilla and flour. Chill overnight. Shape dough in small balls, roll in finely chopped nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and place thumb in center, return to oven and finish baking until light brown, approximately 5 more minutes. ICING: 1 box powdered sugar 1 stick butter Vanilla Condensed milk Cake coloring Mix until you get the consistency you desire and the color you desire. I personally ice these cookies with a baby spoon and have the icing thick enough to have a little curly twist. NOTE: These cookies freeze beautifully. I usually bake them in advance and freeze until ready to serve. Ice just before serving. Yields: 20 dozen small cookies. |
