GREEN BEANS WITH MEAT 
1 lb. stewing beef or lamb
1 (1 lb.) can stewed or Italian style tomatoes
1 or 2 med. onions, chopped
1/4 c. oil
1 lb. fresh string beans
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Pinch of sugar
Oregano or parsley

Cut meat into cubes and brown in butter or oil. Add onions and cook until soft. Pour in about 1/2 cup water, cover and cook meat 20 to 30 minutes over low heat. Add beans, tomatoes and flavorings and continue to cook slowly for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until meat and beans are very tender.
