HONEY CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. honey
2 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 tbsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. baking powder
3/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream shortening. Continue beating while slowly adding honey in a fine stream. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift together 3 times soda, flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour milk (or the buttermilk) and vanilla to creamed mixture. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees (moderate) 20 to 25 minutes. Makes two 9-inch layers.
