CHURCH SUPPER CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour (all-purpose enriched)
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 tbsp. grated orange rind
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. milk
3 lg. eggs

Put eggs, sugar and shortening in bowl. Beat with electric beater until it looks like cream.

Add flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla and grated orange rind. Add milk and mix well about five minutes.

Pour into greased 10x10 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes. Cake may be tested beforehand. Stick knife or toothpick into cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. After cake cools off, put your favorite icing on it. Makes 12 servings.
