HOLIDAY OYSTER STEW 
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
3 c. milk
1 c. half & half
1 (12 oz.) container fresh standard oysters, undrained
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of hot sauce

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk and half and half; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is bubbly. Add oysters with liquid, 2 tablespoons butter, salt and hot sauce. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring constantly, 5 to 8 minutes or until edges of oysters curl. Yield: about 5 1/2 cups.
