CRESCENT CREAM CHEESE BARS 
2 tubes crescent rolls
2 - 8 ounce packages cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg, separated
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Open and lay 1 tube of crescent rolls in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, making sure to seal the perforations. Combine cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, egg yolk and vanilla, mixing thoroughly.

Pour cream cheese mixture over layer of crescent rolls. Open and layout second tube of crescent rolls on a piece of waxed paper. Seal all the perforations. Place this layer over the cream cheese layer, peeling off the waxed paper.

Slightly beat egg white and brush over the top. Combine 1/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle on top.

Bake at 350 degrees 25-30 minutes. Cool and store in the refrigerator.

This is an excellent pastry recipe and very easy to prepared. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup when mixing the filling. Recommend buying the crescent rolls in a "sheet" vs. the traditional crescent roll tubes. Would like to try adding fruit on top of filling before adding top crescent roll.

I have been buying these from a local bakery and have just about went broke because of it. Each week we wait for them to bring them in and put them out for sale. I decided to save money and find the recipe and plan to make them myself. CANNOT WAIT to have a pan (or 2) full of these for me and my hubby. Talk about pigging out!!! Will let you know how it goes. Love the taste, but a bit gooey when I used 2 packs of 8oz. cream cheese. cut to one pack and 1/2 cup of sugar. Nice, delicate treat!
