GREAT HOMEMADE ROLLS 
Dissolve 2 packages of dry yeast in 2 cups warm water. Mix 3 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon salt. Add 6 tablespoons shortening to flour mixture in second mixture. Add the water with dissolved yeast and beat.

Add 3 more cups flour. Work with hands until it springs back. Shape into big ball, place in a greased bowl. Cover with linen cloth. Let rise so that it doubles in bulk.

On floured board knead until no longer sticks. Shape into medium sized rolls (about the size of a plum). Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Brush tops with butter and bake for 5-10 minutes more or until browned on top and bottom.
