2 c. sugar (1 c. brown, 1 c. granulated)
1 c. shortening
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
Salt and lemon flavoring to taste
Flour (4 1/2 c.) to make dough that is easily handled
1 tsp. baking powder

Roll out; cut with cutters and bake in moderate oven until they begin to brown at the edges.
