DOUBLE FROSTED BOURBON BROWNIES
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. vegetable shortening
2 tbsp. water
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
4 tbsp. bourbon
White Frosting
Chocolate Frosting

Mix flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl. Combine sugar, shortening and water in a medium sized pan. Heat, stirring until sugar melts and mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate pieces and vanilla until smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in flour mixture and walnuts. Spread evenly in greased 9 x 9 inch pan.

Bake in a moderate oven (325 degrees) for 30 minutes or until shiny and firm on top. Remove from oven; sprinkle bourbon over top; cool completely. Spread white frosting evenly over top; chill until firm. Spread chocolate glaze over frosting; chill. Cut in squares. Keep refrigerate until ready to serve.

Chocolate Glaze: Combine 1 package (6 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate pieces and 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening in the top of a double boiler. Set over hot, not boiling water until melted.

White Frosting: 1/2 cup butter, softened, 1 teaspoon vanilla or rum extract and 2 cups powdered sugar. Beat butter and vanilla in a medium bowl until creamy; gradually beat in powdered sugar until the mixture has become smooth and spreadable.
