BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES 
20-30 cucumbers
5-8 lg. onions
5 c. vinegar
1 1/2 tbsp. mustard seed
2 tbsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric
4 c. sugar
1/4 c. salt

Slice onions and cucumbers and let stand in water in which ice has been added for 3 hours. Heat vinegar, sugar and spices until hot. Pack onions and cucumbers into hot sterile jars and pour vinegar mixture over them filling jars to within 1/4" for headspace. Seal.
