2 c. cake flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 egg whites
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract

Sift flour and sugar together 3 times. Add water. Beat these 3 ingredients and cool. When cold add baking powder and salt. Beat hard again. Beat egg whites until stiff with cream of tartar and flavoring. Fold batter carefully into egg whites. Pour into ungreased 13 x 9 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
