SMORGASBORD MEATBALLS 
1/4 c. finely chopped onions
1/4 c. fine, dry bread crumbs
1/3 c. cream
1/4 lb. ground pork
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/3 c. butter
1 tbsp. shortening
1/3 c. water
3/4 lb. ground beef (lean)
1 tsp. salt
Dash of cloves
1/4 c. boiling water

Saute onion in shortening until golden brown. Soak crumbs in water/cream mixture. Combine onion, crumb mixture, meats, and seasonings. Mix thoroughly until smooth. Shape into small balls in palm of hand, using a teaspoon (or melon ball shaper) dipped in cold water or press through pastry bag. Brown in butter, shaking pan continuously to keep balls round. Add boiling water; cover and simmer about 10 minutes until tender. May be served hot or cold.
