MOTHER'S GINGER BREAD | |
1 c. cooking molasses 1 tsp. baking soda 1 egg 1/2 c. lard (or Crisco) 2 c. flour 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. ginger HOT water Set oven at 350 degrees. Mix together molasses, soda and egg. Fill cup 1/2 full of lard, add enough hot water to make one cup liquid. Mix in dry ingredients and beat thoroughly. Pour into shallow baking pan which has been greased and floured. Bake 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. |
