BUTTERMILK WAFFLES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs, separated
2 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. melted shortening

Mix dry ingredients. Mix, then add egg yolks, buttermilk and melted shortening. Whip egg whites until stiff, then fold in. Bake in preheated waffle irons. Serves 3-4.
