1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. shortening or butter
1/2 c. peanut butter, creamy or chunky
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
48 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped

Combine everything except candy in large bowl. Mix on lowest speed of mixer until dough forms. Shape into walnut size balls. Roll balls in sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Immediately top each cookie with a candy kiss and press down firmly so cookies crack around edges. Yields 36-48 cookies.
