1 1/2 cakes yeast 1 tbsp. sugar 5 egg yolks 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. white sugar 6 c. flour 3 c. milk 2 c. flour 2 whole eggs 1/2 tsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 3/4 c. butter Dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk and add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Put 3 cups of flour in bowl and add yeast mixture and let rise for 20 minutes. Beat eggs and egg yolks until fluffy. Add rest of ingredients and mix well. Let rise until almost double in size. Break into 3 inch balls. Fry at 350 degrees in hot shortening. Fill inside with prunes, apricots, or nut filling. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
