BUTTERNUT CAKE 
3 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. canned milk
1/4 c. water
3 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
5 eggs, added one at a time
3 tsp. butternut flavoring

Cream together first 4 items. Add rest of ingredients. The secret is beating this cake well. Bake in tube pan that has been greased and floured. Place in cold oven and bake at 325 degrees 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cool 20 minutes before removing from pan.

BUTTER ICING:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 lb. pkg. confectionery sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. butternut flavoring

Mix together and frost cake.
