MATZO KUGEL SOUFFLE | |
9 matzo 1 stalk celery, chopped 6 eggs 2 lg. onions, cubed 1/4 c. oil 1 lg. can sliced mushrooms and liquid 1 clove chopped garlic Salt, pepper to taste 4 c. water + 3 packets MBT broth 3 oz. gravy (or bouillon) to baste Brown onions and garlic lightly in oil. Add celery, brown a bit. Break matzo into pieces in large bowl. Pour hot broth mixture and mushroom liquid over matzo. Cover. Let soak in. Pour off any excess liquid. Beat the eggs. Pour all ingredients over the matzo mixture (except basting liquid) and mix to blend ingredients. Put into greased 2 quart Pyrex bowl. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven. Baste every 20 minutes. Bake until brown - about 1-1 1/2 hours. Turn out of the bowl, upside down on a platter (if you dare) for a beautiful souffle. Great for the seder. |
