BREAKFAST CASSEROLE 
12 slices thin white bread, buttered and crust trimmed
1/2 lb. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 to 1 1/2 lb. sausage meat (bulk)
4 eggs, well beaten
3 c. milk

Space 6 slices of bread buttered side up in a 3 quart baking dish. Spread one half of cheese and sausage over bread. Add eggs and milk. Add remaining slices bread and rest of cheese and sausage. Press down gently so bread will absorb liquid. Place in refrigerator overnight, uncovered. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees. Serve with mushroom sauce if desired.

NOTE: I use a flat baking dish.
