BEACHCOMBER CANTONESE RIBS 
3 lbs. country style ribs
1 inch grated peeled ginger root
1/2 c. catsup
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 clove garlic (minced)
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt

Simmer ribs in water to cover until done but not falling off the bone. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over ribs in covered container. Marinate in refrigerator several hours or overnight, turning occasionally. Grill over hot coals or under broiler, basting with marinade until desired degree of browness.
