PLAIN GRIDDLE CAKES 
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. butter, melted

Mix all dry ingredients. Add egg and milk to make smooth batter; add shortening. Heat and grease lightly a griddle or skillet. Pour cakes into pan from end of large spoon. When cakes are full of bubbles, turn. Griddle should be greased after each baking.
