DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 cup
1 c. cornflakes, crushed
6 apples, peeled and sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tsp.cinnamon
1 egg white, beaten to soft peaks

FROSTING:

1 tbsp. water
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening. Add yolk and milk mixture; mix well. Divide dough in half. Roll one half to fit 15 x 10 jelly roll pan (ungreased). Sprinkle cornflakes over bottom dough layer. Place apples on cornflakes. Roll out remaining dough; place on top. Brush egg white on top crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Mix frosting ingredients and frost while warm. Cut into small bars. Keeps well (if you can keep them!)
