BROWN SWISS SOUP (FAMOUS BARR) 
1 stick butter
2 c. chopped fresh (or frozen) onions
27 oz. beef broth
2 pkgs. Brown gravy mix
Grated cheese

Melt butter in a large teflon skillet, add onions. Saute on low burner until tender, approximately 10 minutes. Add beef broth, bring to a boil. Dissolve 2 packages gravy mix in 1/2 cup water, add to soup mixture, return to boil, stirring constantly.

In French onion soup bowls, put 1 slice of French bread which is sliced about 1 1/2 inch thick. Ladle soup over bread filling to 1/2 inch from top of bowl. Put 3/4 cup grated cheese on top of each serving. Put into hot 450 degree oven for 3 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. (Serve and enjoy!) Cheese mixture: 1/2 Swiss, 1/4 Mozzarella and Parmesan combined for each serving.
