ONION RINGS 
1 c. self rising flour
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 heaping tbsp. sugar

Mix and let stand 30 minutes before using. Dip onion rings until evenly coated. Fry in deep preheated oil (moderate heat). THE SECRET IS: Do not beat batter again after it has been mixed and set for 30 minutes.

NOTE: 2 tablespoons vinegar in sweet milk makes buttermilk
