WHITE CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/4 lb. white chocolate, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water, cooled
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
Buttercream Frosting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 3 (8" or 9") cake pans.

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Beat in chocolate mixture. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk. Pour batter into pans and bake 35 minutes or until done. Cool. Frost with Buttercream Frosting.

BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:

2 lbs. powdered sugar, sifted
1 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
1/2 c. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla

Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl. Beat until smooth and spreading consistency.

Variation; For chocolate, add 1 1/2 cups cocoa and additional milk to spreading consistency.
