BASIC REFRIGERATOR DOUGH | |
2 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. lukewarm water 1 1/2 c. milk 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 2 eggs, beaten 5 1/2 c. all purpose flour Soften yeast in the lukewarm water. Scald the milk and add to it the sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Add 2 cups flour and mix thoroughly. Add softened yeast and the eggs and beat well. Add enough additional flour to make a dough that is soft but not sticky. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Grease the surface and cover and put in refrigerator. When needed, take out, let rise, punch down and make into rolls and let rise again. Bake at 350 degrees to 375 degrees for 20 minutes. |
