OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
Broiled Topping

Pour boiling water over oats; mix well. Cream butter and sugars thoroughly. Beat in eggs. Stir in soaked oatmeal. Sift together flour and remaining dry ingredients. Stir into oatmeal mixture. Turn into greased 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan. Spread with topping. Broil until golden, about 5 minutes.

TOPPING:

1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. flaked coconut
1 c. chopped nuts
6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. half and half
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Combine first 6 ingredients. Heat until bubbly. Stir in vanilla.
