ORANGE DATE NUT CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
3/4 c. butter
1 c. pecans, chopped
1 1/2 c. dates, chopped
Rind of orange, grated

Flour dates and nuts. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time. Alternate flour and soda with buttermilk. Add nuts, dates and orange rind. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until done.

ORANGE SAUCE:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. orange juice
1 orange rind, grated

Dissolve sugar and orange juice with rind. When cake is done, pour orange sauce over cake. Let stand 10 minutes. Turn out of pan and spoon the other half of sauce on top of cake.
