HIGGINS WONDERFUL PICKLE CHIPS 
30 cukes, 3" - 4" long
1 qt. white vinegar
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed pickling spices tied in a bag
2 tbsp. salt

Wash cukes; drain. Put in crock and pour in boiling water to cover. Let stand overnight. Drain. Repeat each day until they have had 4 hot baths.

On 5th day, drain, rinse and cut into 1/2" slices. Heat remaining ingredients, bring to boil, pour over cukes. Let stand overnight. Drain off liquid. Bring it to boil and pour over cukes again.

Let remain overnight and repeat process 3 more days. Then reheat syrup, put cukes in sterilized jars, pour boiling syrup over and seal. (And wash kitchen floor!) Well worth the effort.
