FILLED COOKIES 
1/2 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. melted shortening
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Roll thin on floured board. Use biscuit cutter to shape. Fill with your choice of the two following fillings. Once filled, use a fork to press edges together.

FILLING:

1 c. raisins
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. flour
1 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla

DATE FILLED:

1/2 lb. dates
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. chopped nuts

Use double boiler for filling. Heat until thick.
