RED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 bottles red food coloring
2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream sugar and Crisco. Add 2 eggs and vanilla; mix well. Make a paste of cocoa and red food coloring. Alternately add flour, salt and buttermilk; mix well. Lastly, add the mixture of vinegar and baking soda. Bake at 350 degrees in 8-inch round pans.

ICING:

1 1/2 c. milk
4 1/2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. Crisco

Cook milk and flour to a paste and cool. Mix sugar, vanilla and Crisco.
