JEWELL SNUFFIN'S RAISIN SQUARES 
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg or 1/4 c. egg substitute
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Boil raisins in 1 1/2 cups water slowly until water cooks down to 1/2 cup. Cool. Cream shortening, sugar and egg. Sift flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the flour mixture to the creamed and put the 1/2 cup juice in with 1 teaspoon baking soda added to it; then put in raisins and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes in pan size 10 x 15 inches. Glaze while hot.

PERFECT GLAZE:

1 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. oil
1 tbsp. white corn syrup
1 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. hot water
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients and spread.
