UNLEAVENED BREAD
1 cup whole wheat flour (extra for dusting)
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup water

The idea for this recipe came from I Kings 17:10-16, the story of Elijah and the widow.

Combine the ingredients, then put dough onto floured surface. Knead for five minutes, then roll out until about 1/8 inch thick. On either parchment paper or a greased cookie sheet, bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 20 minutes.

This bread is suitable for the Lord's Supper if you are a member of the Church of Christ.

This should be good for any that read the KJV of the Bible. I don't think the Bible was meant to be divided through denominations and twisted to suit each one. Thanks for the recipe, I am sure it will be great and suitable for all.

Thank you for a very interesting recipe! I've used shortening, flour and h2o in commemorating communion for years. This recipe is more to the real deal. So thankful that as I read this page it goes to show even more so how much we all need a Savior and grateful that GOD looks at us differently through Christ. God bless you all!

Why is there so many useless comments. Mrs. Church put in the recipe for all who wanted it and let the church know it was proper. Thank you and those who have a problem with the coC find some other place to complain. Thank you God for love and I pray we all find and have the truth. I did He called to be apart of His Church I answered.

Thank you very much. I recommend using fine flour, although whole wheat taste better to make it more Biblical. Lev34:5 say to use fine flour for showbread. We must be showbread for Christ. Fine flour takes much more refining and beating to produce. We must go through sanctification (refining and beating) to become useful Christians, our character must be beaten into shape by God just as Jesus was beaten for us. There is no coarseness in fine flour, our coarseness must be removed. I would also add salt as mentioned before, salt was added to all grain offerings. Salt represents loyalty, royalty, faithfulness, usefulness and was used to seal a covenant

I haven't tried it but I'm convinced that I'm on the right page and looking forward to prepare this. I don't usually post comments but I felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to share this much...Everyone gathered here for one reason only, to get the biblical recipe for unleavened bread. Comments such as: "You need to read your bible." among other ones are really inappropriate to be made by so-called Christians. The OT is just as important as the NT and arguing otherwise is not sharing the love. The body of Christ need to be in Unity at all times for every matter.

Lastly, I would like to personally thank Mrs Church for sharing this recipe allowing us to reap it's benefits. Many thanks to you and May the Lord bless you and keep you always.

Great recipe...Shame the Good Book doesn't explain how to make Rye Whiskey. "Faith is the sleep of Reason" my Friends. Look it up.

Thank you for posting this simple and easy recipe! Not sure how it could have stirred up so much controversy in the comments, except that too many of us like to fight and show everyone how right we are. My wife and I are honoring the Passover Lamb (Jesus) by having a meal that somewhat resembles the Passover one, and your recipe was exactly what we were looking for.

Let's not get stuck on KJV/OT rules, after all wine is produced by fermentation which involves (usually) yeast. The Eucharist (Thanksgiving) is a celebration of remembrance that 'Christ is Risen' and everything, but everything is changed.

 Dr. Dimento (United States) replies:
Especially for Dave C from the UK and others who seem to be confused about OT/NT and also perversion bibles, the purpose of unleavened bread and the "mix" ingredients is to have plain and simple purity before God. No salt, no bacteria from leavening agents (yeast), and no additional flavoring agents or elements, just plain simple worship to God with our consumption and life support to our bodies presented without sinful ingredients ... pure. The word "wine" in our English Bible comes from several Hebrew words but the one associated with the Passover is a "new wine" from new hide containers which was NOT a fermented drink but merely grape juice, the same drink spoke of by Jesus when He said He would not drink of the "fruit of the vine" till He returned. The juice representing His blood sacrifice for protection from the death as illustrated in the blood on the door posts and lentils so that death would pass those inside. He saved us from death through His "pure" unseasoned and unleavened body and His pure unfermented blood at the cross. Thank you to God and Jesus for this illustration and we should honor and glorify Him with a worthy illustration.
