NEW ORLEANS CORN SOUP 
2 tbsp. shortening
5 ears corn, cut from cob
1 onion, chopped
Sm. piece garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
2 ripe tomatoes
2 lbs. shrimp, cleaned
8 c. water

Drop corn with shortening in deep pot with onions and garlic. Season with salt and pepper; saute well. Drop in tomatoes and shrimp continuing to saute. Add water and let cook slowly. Don't let it become mushy. Judge your own time and quantity of soup you like.
