DEER-POTATO-TOMATO CASSEROLE 
1 1/2 lbs. ground deer
1 med. onion (coarse chop)
2 tsp. basil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
4 lg. potatoes (thick slice)
6 lg. tomatoes (peeled and chopped) (or a 2 1/2 can)
4 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese

Cook deer burger, onion, basil, salt and pepper together until deer is done and lost its color. Parboil potatoes until just tender. Put deer burger in a casserole. Stir in potatoes and tomatoes (if canned tomatoes are used, do not drain, cut up tomatoes after adding to casserole). Bake (uncovered) in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Top with cheese.

I used the bass recipe and made it into an Italian casserole. I used diced Italian tomatoes and added garlic, Italian seasoning and olives. I also topped with Parmesan cheese. Turned out great. Will make again.
