1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs, beaten
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pure vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Add remaining ingredients. Can chill dough or use immediately. Roll dough and cut with cookie cutters. Paint before baking.

PAINT:

1 egg yolk
1 tsp. water
Drops of food coloring

Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes. Watch.
