AMARETTO CAKE 
1 c. slivered almonds
1 box yellow cake mix with pudding in mix, don't follow pkg. directions
3 eggs
1/2 c. cold water
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. Amaretto

Grease and flour tube pan (angel food cake). Sprinkle almonds over bottom of pan. Combine all ingredients. Beat for 2 minutes. Bake at 325 degrees about 30 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes--keep almonds on bottom. Pierce top of cake with fork. Spoon glaze over top.

GLAZE:

1/2 c. melted butter
1/4 c. water
1 c. sugar

Boil 5 minutes. Stir constantly. Stir in 1/2 cup Amaretto.
