CHRISTMAS ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. water
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
12 oz. chocolate bars, crumbled
1/2 c. chopped nuts (pecan or walnuts)

In a heavy saucepan, cook together the butter, sugar and water, stirring constantly until mixture reaches 300°F.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour into 9 x 11 inch pan and cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle on the crumbled chocolate bars then add nuts. When cook, break into pieces. Store in air tight containers.

I've made this recipe several times and it always yields some really nice candy. All in all, an easy recipe, good candy too. Oh, and I sprinkle on Hershey's brand milk chocolate chips. They melt on the hot toffee and then spread them with the back of a spoon. Thanks for the recipe!
