GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE 
2 lb. fresh green beans, cut up or canned beans, drained
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained sliced thin
Slivered almonds, optional
1 c. water
Salt & pepper to taste
1 (13 oz.) can French fried onion rings, reserve some for topping

1. Mix all ingredients, except reserved onion rings, in an oven proof casserole. Cover and bake about 25 minutes.

2. Crumble reserved onion rings, then sprinkle evenly over casserole. Bake, uncovered, 20 more minutes.
