SPAGHETTI WITH ITALIAN SAUSAGE
1 lb. mild or spicy ground (bulk) sausage
1 medium sweet onion, chopped
8 garlic cloves, minced
1 (16 oz.) box spaghetti or rigatoni pasta
1 (24 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce (your favorite)
1/2 tbsp. dried sweet basil
cayenne pepper, to taste
salt and pepper, to taste

Prepare spaghetti or rigatoni pasta according to package directions.

Meanwhile, chop onion and mince garlic cloves, then add to skillet over medium heat with a pinch of salt. Cook, constantly stirring until onion and garlic are translucent, then add to spaghetti sauce in saucepan over medium heat. Add spices to ground sausage and cook over medium-high until no longer pink, then add to spaghetti sauce.

I serve with garlic bread topped with fresh shredded Mozzarella cheese.

Variation: In a pinch you may use sausage links cut into bite-sized chunks.

Spaghetti with Italian Sausage

 Maureen Thomas (Washington) says:
I'm a huge fan of sausage. This recipe is perfect for me. I would say it might be a little too spicy for some, but I really enjoyed it. I love the tomato sauce with basil. I'll definitely make it again and maybe try some different sausage next time.
