CREAMY WALNUT CAKE 
Brown sugar, walnuts and maple flavors mingle to give ultra - deliciousness.

Sift together into a large bowl:

2 c. sifted cake flour
3 tsp. double-action baking powder (4 tsp. single-action)
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar

Add:

1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. Snowdrift
3/4 c. milk

Mix enough to dampen flour. Beat 2 minutes. If by hand, count beating time only. With electric mixer use "low speed"; scrape bowl often; scrape beater after 2 minutes.

Add:

2 eggs
1/4 c. milk
1/4 tsp. maple flavoring
1/3 c. finely chopped walnuts

Beat 1 minute. Bake in 2 greased 8 inch layer pans lined with plain paper in moderate oven (375 degrees) about 25 minutes. Cool. Frost with Creamy Frosting.

CREAMY FROSTING:

Cream 2 tablespoons Snowdrift with 2 tablespoon butter. Add 1/8 teaspoon salt. Beat in 1 egg yolk. Add 3 1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar alternately with 4-6 tablespoons warm milk. Beat until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Frost cake. Decorate with walnuts.
