BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Grease bottom and sides of 9 inch spring form pan. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and blend in flour. Spread over bottom and going up 2 inches on sides.

CREAM CHEESE FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine cheese and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into shell.

APPLE TOPPING:

1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. sliced apples
1 c. shaved almonds
Butter

Combine sugar and cinnamon, then toss apples into mixture. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Saute almonds in butter. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400 degrees, bake for 25 minutes. Cool before removing from pan. Refrigerate.
