BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, cubed
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. sliced peeled apples
1/4 c. sliced almonds

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough on bottom and 1 1/2 inches high around sides of 9 inch spring form pan. Combine softened cream cheese and sugar; mix well. Add egg and vanilla; mix. Pour into pastry-lined pan.

Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon apples over cream cheese layer; sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. reduce temperature to 400 degrees, continue baking 25 minutes. Cool before removing.
