BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE | |
1/2 c. butter (soft) 1/3 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1 c. flour CHEESE FILLING: 1 pkg. (8 oz.) softened cream cheese 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla TOPPING: 1/3 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 4 c. sliced, peeled apples (3 to 4 lg. apples) 1/4 c. ground walnuts (opt.) Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Cream butter and 1/3 cup sugar for crust. Add vanilla. Blend in flour. Mixture will be crumbly. Pat into bottom and roll sides of 9 inch pie dish. Set aside. Prepare cheese filling. Beat together cream cheese and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well on low speed with electric mixer. Pour into pastry dish and spread over evenly. Peel and slice apples. Add sugar and cinnamon, mix well. Spoon apples over layer of cheese filling. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake 10 minutes, then reduce to 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool before serving. |
