MARY'S CH - CH - CHILI | |
2 lb. ground beef 1 lg. onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes 2 (16 oz.) cans dark red kidney beans 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 6 tsp. chili powder (more or less) 2 tbsp. brown sugar Saute onions and garlic in a small amount of oil or butter. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain off excess grease. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a merry bubble, then turn down heat and simmer for 1 hour. Serve with tortilla chips. Garnish with sour cream, grated Monterey Jack cheese and chopped green onions. Warms those ch-ch-chilly winter tunnel nights. |
